Softube’s Transient Shaper usually sells for $96.21, but right now, you can grab it for just $10.80.
To make the deal that little bit sweeter, you can also get Phat 2 from UJAM as a free gift with your purchase.
Transient Shaper is a dual-band transient processing tool that has been around for a while now. Despite being around for a while, it’s still a much-loved and first-choice plugin for many.
It comes with a pretty simple GUI with just a handful of controls. Transient Shaper can add or remove sustain/punch in specific frequency ranges.
The first controls (from left to right) are the Sustain and Punch knobs. You can adjust the Sustain and Punch by +/-20dB.
Next to each of those knobs is a Hi/Wide/Lo switch that sets the frequency range, with Wide being everything. The Punch section also has a Fast/Slow slider that adjusts the detection circuit and the duration of the transient shaping.
The dual-band operation of Transient Shaper comes with an adjustable Crossover point (100Hz – 4kHz).
The GUI is completed with a Level output knob, a Clip-on/off switch (adding output distortion), and some nice metering.
So, the thing that makes this plugin more interesting than some alternatives is the ability to target the whole signal or just the treble or bass frequencies. It makes Transient Shaper a more precise tool than some and opens up different use cases.
Rather than the more obvious use on drums or percussion, Softube recommends Transient Shaper for vocals, piano, guitar, bass, etc.
Being able to control the attack and sustain of any source, whether you are pulling it back or highlighting it slightly, is very beneficial to a good mix. It helps you enhance or tame dynamics from a flat, lifeless track.
With the massive discount and free gift, it seems like a no-brainer right now.
Don’t forget Plugin Boutique is also offering the United for Peace Charity Bundle in exchange for a £29 donation to UNHCR. The bundle features products from Native Instruments, iZotope, Cableguys, and Sinevibes.
Transient Shaper is available in 64-bit VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX formats for macOS ( 10.13 – 12 older versions won’t work) and Windows 10 (older versions may work but aren’t tested).
