Rigid Audio offers the Interference drum and loop sequencer for Kontakt as a free download.
Interference is the latest Rigid Audio product to go from paid to free recently; it joins the likes of Synferno and Cinematrix in the freeware ranks.
Something that the above products have in common, besides being free, is that they each require the full version of Kontakt 7.2.0 or higher.
So, if you’re a Kontakt owner, it’s been a good couple of months with Rigid Audio!
Interference is a drum and loop sequencer with an intuitive interface that makes creating complex and highly customized sequences easy.
Interference features four time-stretching loop engines and two banks of 400 categorized loops. You can chop, arrange, and edit loops with per-step loop changing and randomization.
Interference is all about customization and individuality; the impressive instrument offers eighteen real-time loop modulators/FX (three send effects per engine).
One of the most interesting features is a loop arpeggiator with four harmonization modes and independent step lengths for up to five notes.
Regarding drums, there are four drum and percussion parts and 1,130 drum, percussion, and noise samples.
Like previous Rigid Audio Kontakt instruments, Interference has a few dedicated pages to get around: Main, Edit, and Options.
The Main page provides an overview of everything with the sequencing and sound sections and access to presets. There are many sound shaping and altering options per preset, like keysplit, tonesplit, detuning, and various time signatures.
The Edit page provides deeper access to the sequencing and sounds sections, as well as master FX.
The Options page allows various aspects of modulation, note-triggering, audio output modes, and other effects.
An important element of any sequencer is randomization, and Interference offers multiple types. You can choose to randomize the loop section, the drum section, or the noises modulation table.
Interference also allows you to control the randomization to an extent by staying within designated categories. For example, ambient loops are only shuffled with other ambient loops.
I believe Interference previously cost around $149.99, depending on the source, so it’s another welcome addition to freeware. Of course, price isn’t a sure indication of quality, but what I like most about these recent Rigid Audio freebies is that you can do so much from one plugin.
If you’re crafting music for trailers or similar action-packed projects, you can build the foundation of your project without leaving the plugin, which makes for a speedy workflow.
Thanks for another good one, Rigid Audio.

Not to my knowledge, I use Synferno and Cinematrix with Kontakt 6.8
