pointblank Music School has created two new courses for budding music producers using either Ableton Live or Logic Pro.
Each pointblank Music School course consists of over 30 video tutorials crafted with help from music industry experts that you can watch at your own pace.
Feeling lost in the vast complexity of a DAW is probably a common experience for new producers. pointblank Music School has created a comprehensive guide for Logic Pro and Ableton Live to help you navigate this maze.
Here’s an example tutorial from their Ableton Live Easy Guide:

Get oriented within the interface, learn to use the stock plugins for different tasks, MIDI roll, routing, mixing, melody writing, basic harmonizing, exporting, and more.
The tutorials are organized in sections covering different subjects, and you can also explore quiz modules to test your knowledge along the way.
The project files from the actual video tutorials can also be downloaded, so you can test your skills and mix and match with the course as a reference point. This is an effective way to test and deepen your knowledge while tracking your progress.
There are no deadlines or external pressure at pointblank Music School, and you have lifetime access for free as long as you sign up on their website. This seems like a nice solution for someone who wants to get a solid understanding of the most important tools and functions in their respective DAW.
No questions are too stupid! Of course, you’ll learn how to load up an EQ or export a track if that’s your level.
That doesn’t mean that this course is for noobs only. Brushing up on some techniques and getting exposed to creative use-cases in your DAW is never too late. Even if you’re a seasoned user who’s set in your ways to a larger degree!
Some new creative flavors combined with more potential to either optimize or expand your workflow never hurt, after all.
Because the two DAWS are different, the courses will obviously differ in DAW-specific matters, but the overall pedagogic philosophy seems to be the same. It’s supposed to give you a well-rounded understanding of the technical environment to help you realize your creative ideas faster and better.
The courses seem to cover all the basics and necessities while still providing ample amounts of more advanced creative techniques. Definitely a good opportunity to check out if you feel like you might need additional motivation, more skills, or both.
