IK Multimedia Total VI MAX is a gigantic collection of virtual instruments that spans almost every category you can think of—acoustic, electronic, and orchestral.
It’s the perfect all-in-one bundle if you need pianos, synths, drums, cinematic textures, and orchestral sounds. Total VI MAX delivers over 470 GB of content, making it one of the most expansive bundles I’ve seen, and it’s a steal at this price point.
If you’re just starting out and want to expand your virtual instrument range, I’d say Total VI MAX is a good investment.
The bundle includes seven flagship plugins: SampleTank 4 MAX, Syntronik 2, SampleTron 2, Miroslav Philharmonik 2, MODO DRUM 1.0, MODO BASS, and Hammond B-3X. That’s on top of 69 instrument libraries, featuring titles like Electromagnetik, Cinekinetik, Hitmaker series, and the classic Syntronik synths.
In total, you get access to over 15,500 instruments, from orchestral strings to gritty analog synths, punchy drum kits, and pristine bass guitars.
However, there’s one important caveat to keep in mind.
While this is a “MAX” bundle, it’s worth noting that it doesn’t include the latest versions of some software. For example, you’re getting MODO DRUM 1.0 and MODO BASS, not the newer updates. So if you’re after the latest and greatest IK Multimedia has to offer, you might want to look elsewhere.
Still, even with that caveat, the price-to-value ratio here is ridiculous.
You’re paying $50 for a complete studio’s worth of virtual instruments. If you’re just starting to build your collection or want a set of tools that cover almost every type of instrument, this is hard to beat.
Installation and updates are handled through the IK Product Manager, so you’ll need an internet connection to activate the plugins. All included instruments can be used either as standalone applications or loaded into SampleTank 4 as libraries.
Total VI MAX is compatible with macOS (AU, VST2, VST3, AAX) and Windows (VST2, VST3, AAX), and requires 64-bit systems with at least 8 GB RAM. Just be aware that you’ll need 680 GB of storage space if you plan on installing everything.
