UJAM Usynth Core is the flagship instrument in the Usynth series, which is basically UJAM’s lineup of synths packed with production-ready presets.
It’s designed to deliver a wide range of synth sounds with minimal effort. It’s not about deep, modular sound design. On the contrary, it’s all about quickly getting sounds that you can use in modern music.
If you need a punchy bass, lush pad, soaring lead, or evolving arpeggio, the idea is that Core should have something for you among its selection of 100 presets categorized by type (Lead, Bass, Poly, etc.).
What makes Usynth Core so user-friendly is the preset-first interface. You can quickly browse the presets and then tweak each sound using the Smart Knobs, which adjust multiple parameters behind the scenes.
The Dark/Bright and Fast/Slow knobs offer intuitive tonal shaping, while each preset includes three additional tweakable parameters to fine-tune the sound further.
The built-in Sequencer functions as both an arpeggiator and phrase player, with 30 presets and real-time performance features. You can trigger variations and phrase elements directly from the keyboard, making it great for live play or sketching ideas in your DAW.
Lastly, the Finisher section is where things get fun. It’s a multi-FX processor with up to 100 effect chains you can cycle through. There’s a lot of stuff you can slap on the presets, from lush reverb to wild modulation and glitchy effects.
While Core might not replace your go-to synth for detailed sound design, it excels as a fast tool for adding synth parts to your tracks.
I’ve always found UJAM plugins easy to work with, and Core is no exception. It’s as “plug in and play” as it gets.
You’ll need the UJAM App to install and authorize the plugin. Usynth Core runs on Windows 10+ and macOS 10.14 or later, supporting VST2 and AU formats.
