The Mäag Audio EQ4, in all its forms (500 Series hardware and software emulations), is almost universally loved for many reasons, none more so than its distinctive Air Band.
The Air Band precedes the 2013 release of the 500 Series EQ4M by two decades, with the original NTI EQ3, created by Cliff Mäag.
Ever since the early ’90s, Cliff Mäag’s Air Band has been a favorite and a vocal chain mainstay of engineers everywhere. From Madonna’s Ray of Light to Celine Dion’s Taking Chances, the Air Band is all over countless hit records.

The EQ4 plugin is a six-band EQ with the legendary Air Band.
The Air Band provides high shelving boost at 2.5, 5, 10, 20, or 40 kHz. You can further shape the Air Band’s impact by adjusting the Air Gain setting.
In addition to the Air Band, EQ4 features five fixed-frequency bands at 10 Hz (Sub), 40 Hz, 160 Hz, 650 Hz, and 2.5 kHz.
The Mäag Audio EQ4 famously delivers transparent, musical results from an extremely simple interface.
Whether you want to enhance drums, smooth bass, remove vocal resonance, or give an electric guitar solo the space it needs in the mix, the EQ4 is usually an ideal solution.
Although the Air Band is the star feature, the Sub band is an awesome addition when you need to clean up or add some attitude to your low-end.
Various developers have tackled the EQ4 effect, including the open-source Sky Blue EQ4 and, more recently, Antelope Audio’s MG4+ EQ.
