NoirSonance has made its entire plugin catalog available as pay-what-you-want, with a minimum price of zero, meaning you can grab everything completely free if you like.
We’ve covered NoirSonance plugins on Bedroom Producers Blog several times in the past, including the free EQ6 and EQ6 (b) equalizers and a trio of compressors released earlier this year.
We also previously ran a giveaway for EQ6 Pro, which normally sold for €19.99. It’s an excellent eq, especially for that price.
A few days ago, the developer got in touch to let me know he’d decided to make all of his plugins free. I was a bit shocked. Getting plugins for free is fantastic for us as users, but plugins wouldn’t exist without developers. So I believe that there should always be a way to support a developer, even if their plugins are free.
Having spent time with these tools before, I genuinely think they’re worth your attention. The compressors are excellent, ranging from clean and transparent to more character-driven options, and the EQs are equally impressive, especially for a small independent developer.
Because of that, I replied to NoirSonance, suggesting not releasing them as “free only” but instead giving users the option to support the work if they can. The suggestion was accepted, and the entire NoirSonance lineup is now available as pay-what-you-want.
In total, you get 12 plugins: nine compressors and three EQs. Some of them were already free, others were previously paid products, but now everything sits behind the same PWYW model. You can download them for free, test them properly in your own projects, and decide later if you want to contribute.
The compressor lineup includes the B-Comp, D-Comp, and S-Comp series, each available in Lite, Classic, and Pro versions. The Pro editions, like S-Comp Pro and D-Comp Pro, offer deeper control, extremely wide threshold ranges, flexible attack and release times, auto-gain, advanced metering, and different character options depending on the model.
The included comps are well-suited for anything from transparent mastering work to more aggressive mix processing.
On the EQ side, EQ6 Pro builds on the earlier EQ6 B and EQ6 W releases, adding more flexibility, switchable character modes, and combined EQ and dynamics processing. It’s a powerful tool once you dig in, especially considering it now costs exactly what you want to pay.
