Solid State Logic’s G3 MultiBusComp is currently 70% off on AudioDeluxe, bringing the price down to $29.99 (regular price $99).
If you’ve ever used an SSL bus compressor on your mix bus, you already know the sound. It’s basically an everything-just-clicks-together glue that’s been on countless records for decades.
SSL G3 MultiBusComp takes that same VCA compression character and splits it across three independently configurable frequency bands, so you can treat the lows, mids, and highs separately while keeping that classic SSL feel.

Each band gets its own full set of compressor controls (threshold, ratio, attack, release, makeup gain) plus a mix knob for parallel compression (always a nice touch on a bus compressor). You can set the crossover frequencies in the band graph view, or link bands together to reduce it down to a two-band or even single-band compressor if you don’t need all three.
That said, my favorite feature here is the per-band 4K drive, modeled on the drive circuit from SSL’s 2 and 2+ audio interfaces. You can push individual bands into harmonic saturation while keeping the others clean.
It’s pretty cool for adding weight to a snare in the mid-range without dirtying up the top end, or for thickening the low end of a kick without affecting the rest of the mix.
The sidechain section goes deeper than most multiband compressors, too. You can unlink the sidechain filters from the band crossovers and apply custom filtering to each band’s sidechain input, including a bell filter.
There’s also external sidechain support per band, so you can drive the compression from a completely different signal. You can solo each band and audition each band’s sidechain input independently, which makes it much easier to dial in settings with confidence.
The parameter mirroring feature is another nice workflow touch. Hold shift while moving the threshold to automatically adjust the makeup gain in the opposite direction; you can do the same with input and output gain. It keeps the overall level consistent while you experiment with compression settings.
The plugin also includes an HQ mode that enables oversampling for higher accuracy on filters and saturation, A/B comparison, undo/redo, and a resizable GUI (goes from 50% to 200%).
G3 MultiBusComp is available in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats for macOS (Apple Silicon native) and Windows. An iLok account is required for activation.
