Wavelet Audio is no stranger to cinematic instruments and freebies, and now the developer has released The Deer, the Fox, and the Guitar – a free nylon guitar library for Kontakt Player.
The developer behind the fantastic Ashen Scoring Cello has given away cinematic freebies before, such as Trailer Ambient Tools and Pulse Box.
Now, Wavelet Audio is giving us a free library with one of the quirkiest (and longest) names since OI, Grandad: The Deer, the Fox, and the Guitar.
The Deer, the Fox, and the Guitar might sound like a great name for an instrument that offers a few decent sounds and prioritises fun and silliness.

But, this Kontakt Player library delivers some serious sound quality (it’s not devoid of fun and silliness either: win/win).
The Deer, the Fox, and the Guitar delivers the intimate sound and personality of a classical guitar, and it’s really lovely to play.
With guitar libraries, we sometimes get a realistic sound that lacks the expression and articulation to craft a realistic performance, and that’s frustrating.
The Deer, the Fox, and the Guitar has great sound at its core, but it’s just enough articulation and slide noise to create a convincing guitar part.
On its own, the basic classical guitar sound would be enough for a freebie, but with a name like The Deer, the Fox, and the Guitar, we shouldn’t be surprised that it offers much more.
In addition to the gentle side of the classical guitar, you can recreate more dynamic, rhythmic, and percussive playing styles.
You can also create really nice bass plucks with a percussive/booming quality that aren’t overbearing.
Then, if the expected nylon guitar sound isn’t enough for you, you can take a complete departure into overdriven leads, synth-like tones, and atmospheric soundscapes.
The library has some really funky synth-like bass sounds, some great ethereal pads, and some snapshots that venture into cinematic FX.
It’s pretty wild, in the best possible way.
Like most similar libraries, you’ll use keyswitches to get the most realistic performances from The Deer, the Fox, and the Guitar.
It sounds great, it’s fun, it’s free, and it runs in the free Kontakt Player; no complaints.
