Free Quarantine Piano Sample Library Released By Marco Belloni

Marco Belloni has released Quarantine Piano, a free Yamaha U3 piano sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt (also includes WAV samples).

Quarantine Piano is not just another sampled piano for Kontakt. The sampled instrument was recorded in various creative ways, and the library comes with a wide selection of patches. There are thirty patches in total, all with descriptive titles to indicate the type of piano sound that was recorded (Felt Piano, Flickering Piano, Harmonic Piano, Foley Percussion, Piano Drums, etc.). These processed piano patches are incredibly fun to play, and they can be used as a secret ingredient for adding a layer of intricacy and sonic depth to your music projects.

The piano was recorded in stereo with a Rode NT2000 microphone and a pair of Aston Starlight microphones in vintage mode. There are two microphone positions for each note, along with two velocity layers and release samples. The download size is 1.29 GB zipped.

The library comes with a custom user interface for NI Kontakt. It features volume adjustment sliders for each layer and a Space FX control for adjusting the amount of reverb that is added to the signal. The patches require the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt 5.8.1 or above. The free Kontakt Player plugin can only play these patches demo mode (here’s an article about Kontakt Player limitations).

The good news is that Marco Belloni has also included the WAV version of each sample. This means that the library can be used in any digital audio workstation or sampler plugin as long as you don’t mind making the sample makings manually.

You can download Quarantine Piano for free from Marco Belloni’s website. A valid email address is required to receive the download link.
