Igorski Releases FREE FogPad Reverb VST Plugin

6

Igorski has released FogPad, a freeware reverb effect in VST and VST3 plugin formats for all 64-bit digital audio workstations on PC and Mac.

FogPad is a multichannel reverb effect that simulates a large number of acoustic spaces instead of simulating only a single large space. As a result, its sound character is somewhat unpredictable and noticeably different when compared to other reverb plugins on the market, both free and paid. FogPad is an audio effect for creative music producers and sound designers who like to experiment with unusual audio tools.

The plugin features a simple user interface but there’s a bit of a learning curve because of its unconventional sound engine. The control labels are different from what we’re used to seeing in other reverb plugins. Apart from the self-explanatory freeze button and the standard dry and wet knobs, the controls will take a bit of trial and error to fully grasp and put to good use.

That said, FogPad isn’t a plugin that is hard to use. Playing around with the settings is fun and the interface is intuitive, albeit somewhat undescriptive. If you’re a sound designer looking for an inspiring new tool, chances are that FogPad will be right up your alley.

FogPad can be downloaded completely free of charge from the developer’s website. User registration is not required. Keep in mind that only 64-bit host applications are supported.

  1. Man, this is great! I’ve been using Dumpster Fire by Freakshow Industries as off-kilter reverb effect, just to add some character while still pushing things back in a mix. As useful as it is, it’s geared for chaos and hard to dial in. FogPad feels like the subtler, prim version of that.

    That’s me.

By the way, Airwindows has released a plugin with – I suppose – a similar approach: http://www.airwindows.com/pocketverbs-vst/
